Welcome to the eleventh monthly email of PERTinent Updates featuring a select group of articles for your review. We aim to inform and update our members with the most recent major developments in the fields of PERT/VTE so that we in the PERT Consortium can continue to be at the leading edge of improving care for this vulnerable and overlooked group of patients.
This month’s “From Our Own” section features articles by Belinda Rivera-Lebron and Roy E. Smith in Clinical and Applied Thrombosis-Hemostasis; David Dudzinski, Nicholas Giordano, Christopher Kabrhel, Brian Ghoshhajra, Michael Jaff and Ido Weinberg in Journal of the American Heart Association; and Jeffrey Kline in the Academic Emergency Medicine.
Statistical analysis plan for the Pneumatic CompREssion for PreVENting Venous Thromboembolism (PREVENT) trial: a study protocol for a randomized controlled trial, is featured in “Upcoming Studies”. The Pneumatic CompREssion for Preventing VENous Thromboembolism (PREVENT) trial evaluates the effect of adjunctive intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) with pharmacologic thromboprophylaxis compared to pharmacologic thromboprophylaxis alone on venous thromboembolism (VTE) in critically ill adults.
