Pulmonary Embolism:
Challenge, Opportunity and PERT as a Vehicle for change
Pulmonary Embolism:
Crisis and Opportunity
Pulmonary Embolism (PE) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in the United States. Recently, many novel strategies and tools have emerged to advance the treatment of patients with high-risk PEs. Despite these advances, the mortality rate for these patients remains high. To address this crisis, Pulmonary Embolism Response Teams (PERTs) have developed around the nation with the goal of improving outcomes of patients with PE.
